How do you make my treatment pleasant?
The first thing that you will notice about the office is that it is decorated like the tropics. We have tropical murals on the walls and aquariums with tropical fish.
Scientific studies have shown that watching tropical fish relaxes people. We wanted to create an environment that relaxes you and makes you forget about your troubles while we work to get you out of pain.
There are television screens on the walls that show health information programming. We encourage you to learn as much as you can and take your health seriously. It is hard to be happy when you are sick.
We serve great tasting organic coffee and tea. Coffee in moderation and herbal tea have many health benefits. Plus it’s fun to use our coffee machine.
Dr. Kramer knows many of his patients are so busy, they will grab unhealthy fast food to quickly fill their growling stomachs. As a result, their health suffers. We would like to help you with this problem. So we serve great tasting, healthy treats for you to enjoy when you come to see us.
How Many Visits Will It Take To Fix My Problem?
Dr. Kramer will give you an estimate on your first visit. The estimate is based on how bad the problem is and what you want him to do about it.
Some people want their posture corrected. Some people want better mobility and function. Others just want to get out of pain. The amount of care you need will depend largely on your goals. But, obviously, the more severe your condition, the more treatment you will need to meet your goals.
A fear people sometimes have about going to a chiropractor is: “I hear, once you start, you have to go back forever.”
We like to think that people go to chiropractors because they like to go. They feel better when they go. We want you to come to the office for this reason. We will never try and convince you to have more treatment than you want or need.
Will You Respect My Time?
Your time is very important to you, and that makes it important to us.
We usually run on time, and we will apologies if we keep you waiting. The only thing that makes us late is if someone needs more care than was expected when their appointment was made.
You will find that we can do things in less visits than is usual. We like to work efficiently and we try to make it so your treatment will not disrupt your life.
Do Chiropractic Adjustments Hurt?
The absolute truth is, yes, sometimes you feel pain. It would be dishonest to say that chiropractic care is totally pain free.
We aren’t afraid to talk about pain because it is an important topic!
If your visit to us is unpleasant because of pain, it will affect our relationship and we won’t be happy. We don’t want you to be scared or in pain, so, let’s talk about it for a minute.
Some patients come to our office afraid to “have their spine cracked”. Let’s face it, having your bones moved doesn’t sound very pleasant. We could tell you about the latest scientific studies that show chiropractic adjustments are safer than aspirin, which is true. But, it is only human to still have some hesitancy about being adjusted. No one wants to get worse from the treatment.
We do not use the common chiropractic techniques that involve twisting or thrusting into the spine at odd angles. The risk of injury from these techniques is very, very, small, but it is a risk we are unwilling to take with you.
Most of the chiropractic adjustments you will receive do not hurt. In fact, they give a feeling of relaxation and pain relief.
However, there are instances where the adjusting is painful. This is almost always due to tissues in the involved area being swollen. The pain is generally mild and lasts only a second. The pain is not associated with any harm to you, and it is followed by relief.
We would hate to see you choose not to have chiropractic care because you are scared of the adjustments.
We assure you that the experience of being adjusted is very pleasant.
The same techniques Dr. Kramer will use on you, are the same techniques he has done to him. He also adjusts his wife and children. He has adjusted new born babies all the way up to his oldest patient who is 94.
Dr. Kramer explains everything he is going to do, before he does it. He will make everything as pleasant as possible.
If you are hesitant, please talk to Dr. Kramer, Jennifer or Leah. Fear causes pain to increase. Talking about your fear will help you to get rid it.
Will Dr. Kramer X-Ray My Spine ?
Dr. Kramer has been in practice for 14 years. He has studied seven different styles of chiropractic adjusting. Some styles demand that every patient be x-rayed prior to adjusting, some don’t. The style he currently uses does not involve using any x-rays. In his opinion, doctors of all types, order far too many tests and don’t use their clinical skills and common sense enough. X-rays and MRI’s are expensive and the exposure to extra radiation is not good for you. Most of the time the studies don’t show anything that is relevant to your treatment.
Imaging studies can be valuable, but Dr. Kramer will not X-ray or MRI your spine unless it is necessary to help diagnose in your situation. These situations are rare.
Why Does Dr. Kramer Use Cold Laser Therapy?
Cold laser therapy helps people heal faster. The frequency of the laser light stimulates the cells of the body to produce energy. If you have an injury, the extra energy will help the area heal faster. Research on this type of therapy is one of the fastest growing areas in all of health care.
This treatment is totally painless. In fact most patients feel nothing during the laser treatment. Occasionally a patient will remark that they feel a pleasant warming sensation. This is due to the energy release.
Dr. Kramer started using cold laser therapy after he was cured of a chronic shoulder problem with it.
Why Doesn’t He Use Electro-Stimulation, Ultrasound or Physical Therapy?
Dr. Kramer has studied the use of electro-stim. and ultrasound and he feels that these modalities don’t provide much benefit. He feels they don’t help in the correction of spinal mis-alignment. And, Dr. Kramer believes, in some cases these therapies may make alignment worse. Some may disagree, but this is Dr. Kramer’s opinion.
Physical therapy exercises do have therapeutic benefit, but they must be done at the right time and in the right way.
For example: If you do back strengthening exercises too soon after an injury, you can aggravate damaged tissues and cause more pain.
If stomach exercises are done without exercises that strengthen the back, your posture may be pulled farther forward and your posture may get worse.
Will Dr. Kramer Teach Me to Avoid Having More Health Problems?
YES! One of the benefits of seeing Dr. Kramer is that he will teach you how to take better care of yourself. He will teach you how to sleep, sit and choose proper footwear. At the right time, he will teach you exercises to help strengthen your spine. These things will help to prevent more problems in the future.
